Implants are indispensable in modern medicine. However, there is a risk of biomaterial-associated infection, which until now has been treated by surgery and long-term antibiotic therapy. This is not only a burden for the patient, but also a major challenge for the healthcare system. We are therefore developing and researching new antimicrobial biomaterials for future clinical use in implants.
We will give you an insight into our exciting interdisciplinary research work and inform you about the challenges and successes in the development of antimicrobial biomaterials.
