Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that can occur as a complication of any infection and, if left untreated, leads to death. Many patients require intensive care. The causes of sepsis are varied, and the symptoms are often nonspecific. Bacteria, primarily, but also viruses and fungi, can cause an infection that leads to sepsis. We’d be happy to explain how to recognize the early signs of sepsis, how to respond, and the challenges involved in treatment.
In the competition for the title of “Dr. Microbe,” our younger visitors can go on the hunt for dangerous microbes and put their skills to the test. Great prizes await the winners.
At the Center for Sepsis Control and Care (CSCC), doctors and scientists from various disciplines have been working together for many years. They are researching ways to prevent sepsis, detect it more quickly, and treat it effectively. The team at the office looks forward to your visit.
