By 2028, a new translational center will be established in Jena in the immediate vicinity of the University Hospital: the Leibniz Center for Photonics in Infection Research (LPI). With an innovative concept as a user-open center, ideas from the field of photonics for infection research are to be brought to market quickly at the LPI.
At the LNDW, the future LPI researchers from the InfectoGnostics environment will present a novel procedure that enables doctors to obtain key information on the type and severity of a patient's local infection or systemic sepsis within sixty minutes. The new method is based on a completely automated Raman spectroscopic measurement of thousands of cells in the shortest possible time.
