With the robotic dog “Spot,” our 3D scanner can accurately measure large machines—such as aircraft turbines—and create 3D images without constant human assistance. Come meet “Spot” at our institute during the Long Night of Science and discover the world of 3D imaging. 

Also: Fraunhofer researchers are illuminating road traffic—tiny projectors project information onto the road, and headlights made up of thousands of tiny microlenses ensure traffic safety thanks to a dynamic turn signal. Another exhibit demonstrates how high-speed 3D sensors can be used in crash tests to gather important information about a vehicle’s behavior during an accident.
