Illumination, experimental show and musical supporting program

Fox dog cat mouse. This year, some institutes at the Beutenberg Campus are celebrating their 25th or 30th anniversary - a good reason to focus on the research landscape at the Beutenberg Campus! With around 3,500 employees from more than 80 nations, nine institutes, two start-up centers and a biotechnology company are conducting research and developing new products under the motto "Life Science meets Physics". On the occasion of the Long Night of Science Jena, all guests will have the opportunity to enter into an exciting dialog with the scientists.

The musical program for the opening ceremony of the Long Night of Sciences Jena will be provided by the Jena band Jezmer. Jezmer, created as a play on words from the terms "Jena", "jazz" and "klezmer" (Yiddish folk music), the ensemble inspires with the aforementioned musical styles and adds a little bit of Latin American music on top. The Lord Mayor of the City of Jena, Dr. Thomas Nitzsche, welcomes the guests. The opening speech by the Chairman of the Board of the Beutenberg Campus Jena e.V., Prof. Dr. Peter Zipfel, with reference to the history and the important anniversaries, forms the framework of this kick-off event. An experimental show by Dr. Falk Eilenberger (Fraunhofer IOF/FSU-IAP) will get the guests in the mood for the fascinating and varied evening program throughout the city.

A special highlight on the occasion of the opening will be the façade illumination by media artist and lighting designer Conzum at the Abbe Center. Conzum is a media artist and lighting designer from Jena. He first came into contact with art through graffiti and urban art. He later came into contact with photography and film while studying media art. With this background, he began working with light and projection mapping in clubs and at music festivals. He now works with digital worlds and is the director of the Fulldome Festival Jena. The projection starts at about 18:15, lasts about 15 minutes and is repeated continuously.
