How did the far-right scene in Jena give rise to a terrorist group that spent years murdering, robbing, and carrying out bombings?

Fifteen years after the so-called “self-exposure” of the so-called “National Socialist Underground” (NSU), this lecture provides an academic analysis of the conditions that gave rise to the NSU complex, its continuities, and its societal consequences. In doing so, the lecture explores what lessons can be drawn to this day for democracy, security agencies, civil society, and academia—in Jena and beyond.
