The enchanted forest, the big bad wolf, the wicked witch, the gingerbread house—we all have images from fairy tales in our minds. But where do these ideas come from? And what happens when we retell them?

This evening, the Cluster of Excellence Imaginamics: Practices and Dynamics of Social Imagination invites you to turn fairy tales into a testing ground. Together with Theater Waidspeicher and puppeteers from Erfurt, we’ll take a closer look at typical fairy tale scenes and characters—and dare to retell them in new ways.

The evening alternates between discussion and puppet theater. The audience helps shape the conversation as we explore questions such as: What defines our ideas about fairy tales, and where do they come from? Are fairy tales still relevant today? And at what point does a fairy tale cease to be a fairy tale?
