Welcome to the Amazon!
Our photo exhibition takes you on a journey of discovery, deep into the Amazon rainforest and far beyond its treetops. Nestled in the heart of the world’s largest rainforest is the ATTO research station. Scientists from all over the world come together here to learn more about the Amazon and understand how it works. They want to know how an intact ecosystem functions, because that gives us insights into what threatens it most and how best to protect it. So the researchers are investigating what fungi have to do with clouds—and why rivers here “fly.”
Most of the photos were taken by the researchers themselves, who spend several weeks in the rainforest every year. Let your gaze wander and discover the breathtaking backdrop of their research; gain insights into scientific work and the fascinating diversity of life in the heart of the rainforest.
