The Arctic is one of the regions on Earth most severely affected by climate change and, at the same time, plays a key role in global climate dynamics. The thawing of permafrost can lead to increased emissions of greenhouse gases—a process that, in turn, drives global warming.
Learn how we investigate changes in Arctic permafrost landscapes through measurement campaigns, for example by measuring greenhouse gases such as methane or CO2.
We’ll show how we use our measurements and model simulations to better understand the interactions between sensitive Arctic ecosystems and ongoing climate change.
