Review 2022

On November 25, 2022, all night owls young and old were finally able to look over the shoulders of the numerous Jena scientists again and ask their questions about research. After a three-year break, a Long Night of Science was once again held in Jena - and what a night it was!

It all started at 5 p.m.: The opening of the 8th Long Night of Science Jena took place at the Beutenberg Campus in 2022 and fascinated the numerous visitors with the topic of 'science'. Afterwards, numerous partners, e.g. Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Ernst Abbe University Jena, Beutenberg Campus Jena e. V., Jena University Hospital and Jena's research-related commercial enterprises - above all Carl Zeiss in Jena, Jenoptik AG and Schott in Jena - invited visitors to take part in almost countless exciting and varied program items until midnight. Experiments, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities and guided tours awaited the whole family and definitely took everyone into the multifaceted world of science as well as the latest inventions and discoveries "Made in Jena".

Göschwitz special

Stamp rally in Göschwitz

The new area had something very special to offer: Visitors were to discover the variety of laboratories, workshops, products or lectures of the Jena companies in Göschwitz. If they collected a stamp from as many of the participating companies as possible (at least five), they received a gift as a thank you at the end of the tour: a chocolate Advent calendar with a chic Jena motif. It wasn't just the little ones who were delighted!

Impressions 2022

Review 2019

Beginnings

The Long Night of Science has been held in Jena since 2005. Since then, numerous scientific institutions and institutes, companies and clinics have opened their doors for a long evening every two years (with exceptions) and show guests what would otherwise remain hidden - in a varied and public-oriented way. This makes science tangible, exciting and interesting. It is not only here in Jena that the format is so popular for good reason.
