The enchanted forest, the big bad wolf, the wicked witch, the gingerbread house – we all have images from fairy tales in our minds. But where do these ideas come from? And what happens when we retell them?

This evening, the Imaginamics Cluster of Excellence : Practices and Dynamics of Social Imagination invites you to turn fairy tales into a testing ground. Together with the Waidspeicher Theatre and puppeteers from Erfurt, we’ll be taking a closer look at typical fairy-tale scenes and characters – and daring to retell them in new ways.

The evening will alternate between discussion and puppet theatre. The audience will have a say on questions such as: What defines our ideas about fairy tales, and where do they come from? Are fairy tales still relevant today? And at what point does a fairy tale cease to be a fairy tale?
