GRINTECH GmbH in the Jena21 industrial estate invites you on a journey of discovery through miniature worlds: here, you can explore the inner workings of vegetables using endoscopy. At our microscopy station, tiny details become huge.
What exactly is a GRIN lens? In our interactive exhibition space, you’ll get to know fluorescent GRIN lenses.
Do you love drawing, painting and playing? Great! Artists of all ages can immortalise their own little work of art on their very own yo-yo using laser engraving.
And if you’re into all things technical and informative and would like to get to know GRINTECH better, our exciting guided tours of our various production areas are just the thing for you: from optical measurement technology through ion exchange and precision optics right through to the mechanical workshop. The tours take place every half hour and on the hour.
And if all that exploring has made you peckish – we’ve got a snack stand on site serving sausages, lentil soup and tea. Enjoy your meal and feel free to warm up by our GRINTECH fire barrel.

About us:
We’ve been specialists in micro-optics for almost 25 years. Our speciality: GRIN lenses – small lenses with flat end faces and diameters of less than 2 millimetres. We use these to build miniaturised optical systems which are used, for example, in optical sensor technology, biomedicine and endoscopy. Our 52 staff members are looking forward to showcasing our tiny lenses in a big way at the Long Night of Science.
