To prevent water shortages and the potential for social conflict that they entail, new partnerships between the research community, the private sector, the public sector, and civil society are needed. Technological innovations—such as new methods of water treatment or smart water monitoring—are just as essential as social innovations.
The Thuringian Water Innovation Cluster (ThWIC), the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS), and Sensor Space—the MI(N)TmachLabor—are bringing cutting-edge water research projects to the Long Night of Science.
