The heart, as the engine of life, supplies all the organs of the human body with vital oxygen and nutrients via the bloodstream. Diseases of this complex cardiovascular system are among the leading causes of death in the Western world and are thus responsible for significantly more deaths than cancer. Prevention, early detection, and prompt, expert treatment are crucial to the survival of those affected.
We would like to give you a glimpse into the daily work of cardiovascular specialists (“cardiologists”) and introduce you to our main areas of focus, both in clinical practice and in research. Among other things, you’ll see pacemakers, defibrillators, stents for the coronary arteries as well as the pelvic and leg arteries, and catheter-delivered implantable heart valve prostheses. We look forward to introducing you to our diverse range of work!
