Laser beams shape, split and guide: Come and see at the experiment stand just how quickly you can get everything set up
Whether it’s a smartphone screen, a battery in an electric car or a solar panel on the roof: all of these contain high-tech components manufactured using laser beams. Instead of knives or welding equipment, modern factories use concentrated light – at lightning speed, with extreme precision and to within a thousandth of a millimetre. This enables components to be produced in huge quantities without compromising on quality.
For this to work, more than just a laser is needed. It requires optical components that precisely shape, direct and split the beam – just as a camera lens focuses light onto the perfect spot. Jenoptik develops and manufactures precisely these kinds of high-tech optics, as well as beam splitters and micro-optics.
You can try out for yourself at Jenoptik how and why laser beams are shaped, split and directed:
Take on the challenge at our hands-on experiment stand and align a laser setup with four beams as quickly as possible.
For the quick-witted night owls amongst you: adjusting four beams individually by hand takes time and is a real test of patience. This is precisely the problem we solve with our MBSS – a clever solution that makes the production of solar cells significantly faster.
Whoever clocked the fastest time will also receive a little freebie!

Stamp Rally in Göschwitz
If you visit at least 6 of the 14 participating institutes and companies, and collect a stamp from each one, you’ll receive a small gift at the end of the discovery tour – including from us!
Please note:
- Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
- The small gift is available only on 20 November upon presentation of your stamp card (whilst stocks last).
- No cash alternative is available.
We’re putting Göschwitz in the spotlight!
