Are you looking for book recommendations? Are you interested in new voices from our neighboring Slavic countries? Come to our literary salon, where new releases from Poland and the Czech Republic are presented every hour on the hour.

Both Poland and the Czech Republic boast vibrant literary scenes that are not always well known in Germany. Aneta Bučková is a lecturer in Czech language and literature who teaches at the universities of Jena and Erfurt as part of a program run by the Czech Ministry of Education. Ewa Krauß is a literary scholar, translator, and coordinator at the Aleksander Brückner Center for Polish Studies at the universities of Jena and Halle. We are united by our interest in literature and cultural life, which we follow closely. We’d like to introduce you to a sample of our languages in an entertaining way and look forward to an exchange of ideas.

Interactive short presentations and bilingual readings on new German publications from recent years will take place on the hour:

6:00–6:30 p.m. and 7:00–7:30 p.m. – Children’s literature
8:00–8:30 p.m. and 9:00–9:30 p.m. – Cityscapes
10:00–10:30 p.m. and 11:00–11:30 p.m. – Crime and suspense
