How is a highly complex component created, layer by layer, from fine metal powder? We’ll be demonstrating this live during the Long Night of Science.

Join us on a guided tour of our additive manufacturing laboratory, where we’ll explore the powder bed fusion process – one of the most important metal 3D printing processes. See the equipment in action and follow the process from the digital component model, through the selective melting of the powder with the laser, to the finished component.

The focus is on our demonstrators: topology-optimised lightweight components for demanding applications. Discover how additive manufacturing enables designs with integrated cooling channels and bionic structures that would be unthinkable with conventional manufacturing processes – whilst drastically reducing weight and maintaining full functionality.
