Optical systems serve a variety of functions and remain key components in many devices, even in the digital age. Their functions and complexity can vary greatly: ranging from lighting and imaging to measurement tasks, these systems can be anything from simple magnifying glasses to high-resolution microscopes with multiple lenses. Optical design involves developing such systems and simulating their performance. We’ll demonstrate examples and how the process works at a computer workstation. In addition, we have several optical components and modules on display for you to examine. We’d be happy to explain how they work. Through small experiments, you can learn about their functions.
