Let's Talk – Ask questions, discover knowledge, break down prejudices

What actually happens during psychotherapy? When is it a good idea to seek professional support? How do you find a place on a therapy programme, and what rights do you have as a patient?

For many people, psychotherapy is still associated with questions, uncertainties and, at times, prejudices. Yet it is an important part of healthcare and can help people cope with psychological stress and mental health conditions, as well as find new ways of dealing with themselves and their own lives.

At our information stand, we’d like to shed some light on the subject and explain what the term ‘psychotherapy’ actually means.

What can you expect at our information stand?

  • The path to psychotherapy: How do I find a therapy place? Where can I get support? What happens during the first consultation and how does the process of starting therapy work?

  • Patients’ rights – good to know! What does the Patients’ Rights Act cover? What rights do I have regarding information, self-determination, data protection and access to my medical records?

  • What types of psychotherapy are there? We’ll be introducing the four standardised approaches: behavioural therapy, depth psychology-based psychotherapy, analytical psychotherapy and systemic therapy. What distinguishes them and how do they work?

  • Psychotherapy in everyday life: How long does therapy last? Who covers the costs? What happens if you don’t get on with your therapist?

  • Myths and facts: Do you have to be mentally ill to undergo psychotherapy? Does therapy mean you have to recount your entire life story? And what actually happens behind the door of a therapist’s practice?

Curious to find out more?

Whether you’ve already thought about psychotherapy, have questions of your own, or simply want to learn more about mental health – you’re very welcome here!

We aim to inform, educate, dispel misconceptions and show that psychotherapy is not a taboo subject, but an opportunity to get to know yourself better and find support.

Do pop in, ask your questions and discover psychotherapy from a new perspective!
