ZEISS planetariums make the universe accessible and understandable to everyone around the world. Fortunately, you don’t need years of astronaut training to experience it! During the Long Night of Science, approximately 20-minute events will take place every half hour in the ZEISS Demo Dome. The first two shows are geared primarily toward preschoolers and elementary school-aged children. During these sessions, we’ll clearly explain the technical setup of a typical planetarium, take a brief tour of the current night sky with visible constellations and planets, and take the audience on a thrilling journey from Earth to the depths of the universe.
In addition, at our booth, we’ll explore interactively how we bring planets, black holes, galaxies, and nebulae into the planetarium dome. We’ll demonstrate how a virtual universe is created in our planetarium software based on the latest scientific and research findings. This is one of the reasons modern planetariums are the epitome of a realistic and immersive experience.
Children can design their own planet. You have until 8:00 p.m.; after that, prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
