Identifying plants with the Flora Incognita app

Come along and learn from the scientists how you can discover native plant diversity with your mobile phone! Try it out yourself on our plant pots and take the opportunity to ask all your questions.

Nature conservation begins with knowledge. How can we preserve what we don't know? With this inspiration, we invite all visitors to the LNDW in Jena to expand their knowledge of native wild plants. The Flora-Incognita app makes it easy: a photo of the flower is often enough to identify a plant. With functions such as the personal dashboard, which gives an overview of the latest finds, and your own plant collection, in which you can collect all your observations over the years, it is easy to get to know many Ritzen rebels, neophytes or special features while out walking. Our stand at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry will help you get started: You can practise identifying plants with the app on the flowering plant pots, and our botanists and app developers will be on hand to explain all the functions and possibilities offered by the app.
