I bet you're multilingual! Find out at stations where you can try things out and get involved. Discover what multilingualism means and why language acquisition might be different than you think.

Language acquisition and one’s own multilingual repertoire are closely linked. Every language one has learned contributes to success in learning additional languages. But what exactly is the impact of multilingualism? Who is considered multilingual? And what does this mean in concrete terms for language acquisition and language instruction?

Researchers and students at the Institute for German as a Foreign and Second Language and Intercultural Studies at the University of Jena are exploring these and other questions in various projects.

We invite all visitors to the Long Night of Science to experience their own multilingualism through interactive activities, share their language learning experiences, and learn a great deal about scientific findings on the role of multilingualism in learning and teaching the German language.
