Personal health data often contains sensitive information that warrants protection and is therefore generally inaccessible to the scientific community and industry. However, this data is essential for researching diseases and developing new drugs and medical devices. We aim to explain how this contradiction can be resolved and what opportunities and risks the use of health data entails for patients. The AVATAR-Transfer project focuses on making sensitive health data usable through anonymization and provides information on data use and data protection in healthcare and medicine. Since the predecessor project, AVATAR, primarily regional partners from the fields of medicine, science, business, and IT law have been active in this area for over three years. The AVATAR-Transfer project is coordinated by InfectoGnostics Forschungscampus Jena e.V. and its campus partner, Navimatix GmbH.
