How does taste develop? Fascinating experiments show how smell, sight, and taste work together to shape our perceptions and food choices. Relatable to everyday life, surprising, and full of “aha” moments that encourage more mindful eating.

Our perception arises from the interplay of several senses. This has a significant influence on food choices. Our experiments illustrate just how strongly smell, sight, and taste influence our impressions—and thus our behavior—when it comes to choosing food. They help us understand why foods can be perceived very differently depending on the situation. The experiments are relevant to everyday life and encourage us to observe our own eating habits more consciously. Overall, they demonstrate in a simple and engaging way that our senses collectively shape our taste experience.
