Invasive Japanese knotweed in the city park, hardworking wild bees on campus, rare butterflies in the garden next door—the nature around us is well documented if you know where to look. Come on by and become a data detective!

Data is essential for the protection and study of our fascinating flora and fauna. Under the umbrella of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), NFDI4Biodiversity brings together around 50 institutions that collaborate on usable biodiversity and environmental data—including scientific institutions, museums, natural history societies, and environmental agencies. The University of Jena is one of them. At our booth, you’ll get to become nature detectives yourselves: Using the “Living Atlas of German Nature” (LAND, https://land.gbif.de/), you’ll search live for species in your own neighborhood, solve little puzzles based on real observational data, and learn what this data can reveal about the state of our natural world.
