It is now well established that spending time in the forest can reduce stress and improve well-being. What is less clear is why: Is it enough simply to be outdoors in nature, or does it also depend on how diverse the forest is and which senses we use to perceive it?
That’s exactly what our BEhealthy project is exploring. Depending on how a forest is managed, it differs not only in its biodiversity but also in its structure, density, and light conditions. We’re investigating whether these differences also have measurable effects on our health and well-being.
At our booth, you can test your senses, put your knowledge to the test with a quiz, and learn what research has already discovered about the connection between biodiversity, perception, and mental health.
